Good morning. There’s something strange going on in the sky: Betelgeuse, one of the brightest stars we can see, is pulsing and glowing at 1.5x its normal brightness. Scientists aren’t totally clear about what’s going on, but whatever is happening happened a long time ago—Betelgeuse is distant enough that the light we’re seeing from it is more than 600 years old.
