Save money on renos with this price-matching hack

Did everyone you know become an amateur handy-person overnight during the pandemic? If you want to jump on the DIY train without paying full price, this money hack is for you, friends!

The Home Depot doesn’t advertise its price matching program, but it’s a good one. Similar to grocery and electronic retailers, if you find an identical product at a lower price somewhere else, you can head to your local Home Depot with proof of the deal, and they will let you pay their competitor’s price.

  • Not only will they price match, but in some cases, they will also knock 10% off the price if it’s an in-stock item from a local retailer’s store or website.

  • The 10% doesn’t apply to online-only retailers like Amazon.

Some products are exempt, so it’s a good idea to call ahead and verify if the items you want are eligible for the price-matching policy.

Lowe’s and Rona have similar price-matching policies as well, so shop around for the best prices between the three.

Think about all the money you can save on everything from lightbulbs to toilets, power tools, and that tasty checkout candy. Happy home renovations!
