What to do this weekend

Eat a bowl of savoury oats. Instead of gussying up your oatmeal with berries and brown sugar, expand your breakfast horizons and take the savoury route. People these days are throwing all kinds of things on their oats, from fried eggs and mushrooms to bacon bits.

Read The Peace by Roméo Dallaire with Jessica Dee Humphreys. The former UN peacekeeper, retired senator, and acclaimed activist reflects on his experiences as a soldier. In doing so, he tries to determine a path where humanity can somehow find lasting peace.

Watch Monkey Man, now in theatres. The directorial debut from excellent actor Dev Patel is the latest action-thriller in the vein of John Wick — that is, a wronged man (this time a lowly street fighter) snaps and leaves a trail of bodies in his wake. Sounds like a good time!

Listen to Only God Was Above Us by Vampire Weekend. One of this century’s most influential bands extends their “truly great album” streak to five. Effortlessly catchy melodies, wizardly production flourishes, frontman Ezra Koenig’s cutting lyricism. It’s all there.—QH
