The Peak sells to Moses Znaimer’s ZoomerMedia

We have, as they say, some personal news

What happened: The Peak has agreed to sell to ZoomerMedia for an aggregate purchase price of $5 million, the companies announced yesterday.

  • The Peak was founded in 2020 to provide fun, smart business, tech, and finance news to a new generation of business leaders and decision-makers.

  • ZoomerMedia, which also acquired blogTO and Daily Hive in recent years, is expanding aggressively into the digital space.

Why it matters: The deal is a win for independent, made-in-Canada media at a time when the industry is under growing pressure.

  • “Not only will Zoomer's resources allow us to grow faster and further than we could have alone, the opportunity to learn from and work with Zoomer founder Moses Znaimer will help take our operation to the next level,” said The Peak co-founder Brett Chang.

  • “I understand busy people," said Zoomer founder and CEO Moses Znaimer. “And if The Peak can bring them all the top daily finance and tech stories we need to know in less than 10 minutes, that’s a big idea with a big future.”

Zoom out: With properties in television, radio, print, and online, ZoomerMedia is one of Canada’s largest and most impactful media companies.

  • For years, Zoomer has been the go-to media outlet for the nearly 18 million Canadians aged 45-plus.

  • Now it’s rapidly expanding into younger audiences through profitable, fast-growing digital media properties—like us!

What’s next: The Peak you know and love (well, hopefully love) isn’t going anywhere—it’s only going to get better. Thank you for taking this journey with us, and we’re excited for what comes next.—TS
